Every few years, I pick up Peter Thiel’s From Zero to One as a sort of checkpoint to see how my views have evolved alongside the fast-paced world of tech and entrepreneurship. The last time I dove into Thiel’s book, I found his obsession with monopolies off-putting. Back then, aiming for monopoly status felt at odds with the competitive spirit that I believed fueled innovation. But after revisiting it in 2024, amid the AI and LLM revolution, I noticed my opinions shifting. Thiel’s concept of a “good monopoly” started making sense, reshaping how I think about building sustainable businesses.
In this episode, we explore how Thiel’s ideas apply to today’s world, what’s changed in my own perspective, and why understanding his insights matters more than ever in the current tech landscape.
